St. Vincent de Paul Society

St. Vincent de Paul Society is an organization whose sole purpose is to help those in our parish community who are need of help. This organization was established in the year 1833 in Paris, France by eight young men. The first conference in the United States was held in 1845 in St. Louis, Missouri. I only mention these dates to acquaint you with the number of years this program has been active.

71 years ago (1931) the chapter in St. Anthony's parish was formed. It would be impossible to recount all the families and individuals who have benefited from the support provided by the Society. The greatest satisfaction we receive is by being able to help those in need and not by counting how many people we did indeed help.

The only source of income we have is the money received in the poor boxes held at the end of each mass at the rear of the church. We have heard that some people think this money is a supplement to the regular collection taken at each mass. You can rest assured that every dollar put in the poor box is dedicated to help some family in need and is controlled by the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The members of the Society wish to thank all who financially support our cause, and ask if all of you will please consider assisting those in our parish who are in need of help.

I would like to assure anyone who has a need of our support that this is indeed a private organization. The names of any that we help remain in the Society and under no circumstances become public. I mention this in the event that anyone who has a need and has not come to us because they feel their friends or neighbors might learn of their plight need not have any concern. All matters are confidential.

Our Spiritual Director is Monsignor Raymond Kupke.

The members of the Society are:

  • Ken Silvestri
  • Peter Ramos
  • Dominick Mele
