 Carol Newman, a graduate of The Julliard School of Music, is the Music Director/Organist. Carol directs the Music Ministry at St. Anthony's Parish and is responsible for the choirs and musical leadership of all worship services.
St. Anthony's Parish is accompanied by the sounds of a Diane Bish Signature Organ, a baby grand piano and other orchestral instruments. Carol leads the musical talents of our parishioners through the different choirs, choral events and liturgies.
Children's Choir Children in grades 2nd - 6th (St. Anthony School students and Public School students are welcome!) meet on Thursday afternoons from 2:45 - 4 pm in the church choir loft.
While learning the liturgy and hymns for worship, the children also learn to read musical notation, to use their voices, and they develop a love for singing. The children sing each Sunday at the 10 am - Family liturgy, and throughout the liturgical year at 1st Communion, Christmas, Palm Sunday
and Easter. In addition, they participate in the music presented as Lessons and Carols in December.
Adult Choir Rehearsals are each Thursday evening from 7:30 - 9:30 pm. The choir sings each Sunday at the 12 Noon liturgy, and throughout the liturgical year at Confirmation, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Palm Sunday, Triduum and Easter. In December the choir offers the beautiful lyrical presentation, Lessons and Carols.
Youth Chorale a group for teens and young adults of the parish community is forming. Rehearsals will be held on Saturday evening from 4:30 - 5:15 pm in the rectory meeting room before mass. Throughout the liturgical year, the Youth Chorale will sing at the Saturday 5:30 pm liturgy, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Palm Sunday, Triduum and Easter. In addition, they will participate in the music presented as Lessons
and Carols in December. Rehearsals usually begin in mid September.
Children and Adult Choirs rehearse on Thursdays and Youth Chorale rehearses on Saturdays, auditions are necessary to hear vocal range and placement in the choir. All are welcome!
