What is it? It is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church with well over 2 million active members in most every country in the world.
What does it do? It asks members to live more fully their baptismal promises through prayer and service in union with the Holy Spirit, through the intercession of Mary, Mother of the Church. Works include visiting parishioners who are hospitalized, homebound, or in nursing homes; CCD instructions, Enthronement of the Sacred Heart, homes blessed and evangelization (seeking to lead others back to mass and the sacramental life of the church).
How does it work? Members meet once a week for prayer, planning and discussion in a family setting. They do a couple hours of pastoral work each week in pairs and under the guidance of a Spiritual Director.
How do I start? You are invited to come and see the Legion from the inside. You can go with an experienced member, if you wish, as a guest on one of the work assignments. Call Lucy Leone (973) 427-7616, or click to send an email to: Parish Secretary
